Atlético Madrid is eyeing a significant summer acquisition. The Spanish capital’s team has expressed keen interest in Artem Dovbyk, the Ukrainian forward who has taken La Liga by storm.

Atlético's Ambitious Plan

The "Colchoneros" are strategizing to secure Dovbyk’s talents, initially setting aside €40 million for the deal. However, Girona’s board has made it clear that this amount won’t suffice. They are firm on an immediate and guaranteed €40 million payment, alongside bonuses bringing the total to a staggering €47 million.

The Stakes and the Players

Girona retains only 70% of the rights to Dovbyk, with Danish club Midtjylland holding the remaining 30%. This complicates negotiations, as both parties hold vested interests in the lucrative deal. Despite these complexities, Girona allows potential buyers to engage directly with Dovbyk.

“Girona has set its terms. Negotiations are non-negotiable on the transfer sum which includes multiple bonus clauses,” said a club insider.

Dovbyk’s Stellar Performance

Last season, Dovbyk's prowess was undeniable. With 24 goals and 10 assists across 39 official matches, he became La Liga's top scorer, winning the coveted Pichichi Trophy. Such performance has inevitably garnered interest not just from Atlético but also Napoli, Milan, and Arsenal.

What's Next?

Dovbyk seems to lean towards a move to Madrid, a decision that could redefine his career trajectory. The move would not only enhance Atletico's offensive line but also elevate Dovbyk's profile in European football. As the summer window approaches, the battle for this Ukrainian star is bound to heat up.
