Leganés Completes Final Transfer with Darko Brasanac

The transfer carousel at Leganés has come to an end with the acquisition of Serbian midfielder Darko Brasanac. The club announced this Friday that Brasanac will be the fourth and final permanent signing stemming from their recent promotion to the Primera Division.

He follows Miguel de la Fuente, Juan Cruz, and Enric Franquesa, whose signings were confirmed earlier this week. Leganés has invested €2.1 million for Miguel, €1 million for Juan Cruz, and less than €90,000 for Franquesa. Brasanac, on the other hand, comes at the modest price of €200,000 to Osasuna. His contract will keep him at Butarque until June 30, 2024.

"From the four loan players who remain, Brasanac is the one with the least contract time and influence on the pitch."

Brasanac's Limited Influence

During his loan period last season, Brasanac had a mixed impact. Arriving in the winter transfer window, he initially showed promise but struggled to match expectations. Borja Jiménez, the head coach, started to prefer other midfielders like Julián Chicco and Seydouba Cissé. However, Brasanac did make some vital contributions towards the end of the season, including a key assist in the penultimate match.

A Familiar Face in a New Era

This isn't Brasanac's first stint at Leganés; he played for the club in the 2017-2018 season on loan from Betis. His previous tenure included notable performances, such as being a part of the historic 'Pepinazo' victory over Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey and scoring Leganés' first La Liga goal at Santiago Bernabéu.

Despite the muted announcement of his signing this time, where the club used a humorous meme featuring Novak Djokovic, Brasanac’s return brings a sense of familiarity and seasoned experience to the squad. His contract carries no automatic renewal clauses based on objectives, but Leganés will have to pay an additional €200,000 if they remain in the top tier next season.

Future Prospects

With different contract durations, it's clear Leganés sees varying potential in their new acquisitions. Franquesa's contract extends until 2026, while Miguel and Juan are signed until 2028. Brasanac, with a shorter tenure, may need to outperform expectations to secure a prolonged stay.

As Leganés prepares for their season in the Primera Division, the upcoming months will reveal how these new signings integrate into the team’s strategy and performance.
